MENTORSHIP PROGRAMME
Objectives:
- Provide beneficiaries personalized guidance and support based on goals, ability and challenges in their educational journey and enhanced employability.
- Encouraging beneficiaries to participate in professional network opportunities.
- Encouraging and supporting beneficiaries to develop their inherent talents.
- Helping beneficiaries to make their own career decisions.
Duration of Mentorship
Mentorship Program is for one year from January to December.
Beneficiary application for Mentorship Support
- Both Renewal and New Beneficiaries from any stream can indicate in their scholarship application whether they require Mentorship support.
Mentor Selection Criteria
- Members of the SD-SEED Governing Board and Advisory Committee.
- Experts in their respective subjects/fields with an academic background.
- Individuals with significant contributions in the fields of education, social work, and counselling.
- Individuals with excellent communication skills, a passion for guidance, and mentoring experience.
- SD-SEED Alumni.
- Any individual meeting one or more of the above criteria and possessing the expertise in mentoring.
Mentees (Beneficiaries) Responsibilities
- Maintain regular communication with designated mentors, and diligently follow their guidance.
- Proactively provide Mentors with periodic updates on academic progress, achievements, and challenges.
- Engage in the exchange of ideas and experiences with Mentors.
- Actively participate in and benefit from the guidance programs offered by SD-SEED.
- Always demonstrate respectful and courteous behavior towards mentors.
Implementation Process
Step one : Identify Beneficiaries (month of December)
- Prepare a list of beneficiaries who have opted for Mentorship support through the Annual Scholarship Application Form (both new and renewal Beneficiaries).
- Details of Mentorship Beneficiaries is prepared course wise and stream wise.
Step Two : Project Leader Mentorship Orientation and Guidelines
- Conduct an orientation session with mentors covering roles, responsibilities, best practices and ethical guidelines.
- Share a code of conduct and confidentiality rules.
Step Three : Mentee Profiling and matching
- Compile detailed profiles of Mentorship beneficiaries organised course wise and stream wise .
- Match Mentees with suitable mentors based on their academic stream and Mentor expertise.
Step Four : Assigning mentors ( Month of December)
- Team leader to ensure Mentors understand their role in providing guidance, support and advice.
- Assign Mentors by matching shortlisted mentors with mentees profile and confirming the best fit.
Step Five : Communication set up
- Create whats app group for each Mentor – Mentees cluster to enable regular updates and group interaction.
- Schedule a one-on-one introductory meeting between each Mentor and Mentee to discuss the Mentee profile, interests, career aspirations and challenges.
- Define the preferred mode and frequency of communication (eg weekly, monthly or mutually agreed)
- Share contact details and ensure both parties are comfortable with communication guidelines.
Step Six : Mentor collaboration and reporting
- Mentors discuss Mentees’ challenges amongst themselves to share insights and solution when needed.
- Report unsolved issues and provide regular progress updates with SD-Seed Board.
- Maintain brief documentation of discussion issues and progress for transparency.
Step Seven : Organise Annual Mentorship Engagement (November)
- Arrange a meeting between Mentees and Chief Guest during the Annual Scholarship Distribution Ceremony.
- Provide a platform for Mentees to share their mentorship experiences and learnings.
- Acknowledge mentor contribution and show case mentee progress and achievements.
